The Latest on Brock Lesnar's Health and UFC Future

As the world focuses in on UFC 106 weekend, the 800 pound gorilla in the room is the health and future of Undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion of the World Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar, who is the biggest pay per view attraction on the UFC roster, was sidelined with an illness, reported to be Mononucleosis, that forced him to pull out of his scheduled UFC 106 main event Title defense against the undefeated Shane Carwin.

But the seriousness of Lesnar's condition was unknown at the time, even to the big man himself. The former WWE "Next Big Thing" had a hole in his intestines, and fluid was spilling into his system. At first wanting to keep his condition a secret, Lesnar had no choice but to inform UFC President Dana White, who was trying to get Lesnar to accept a January 2nd rescheduled date for the title defense against Carwin.

In an exclusive blog posted here on the Hustle, our own Hustler de Tuti Hustlers PAUL HEYMAN COMMENTED ON BROCK'S CONDITION, saying:

For those who want to talk trash about Brock Lesnar, go right ahead. He's not going to pay attention to you. He's not on the web, and he's only buzzed about things by a select few that he is willing to talk to. And while you're painting the picture of a faking, slacking, swine-flu infected Octagon-dodger, keep in mind that sooner rather than later, Brock Lesnar is going to step into the cage and defend that title. Whether he's defending the championship against the undefeated hard hitting knockout artist, or a confident self-promoter talking trash is up to Shane Carwin, who should definitely place a call to Frank Mir and ask "what is Brock's reaction when he finds out someone's been talking trash about him?"

Brock Lesnar is sick. That's bad news for no one but Brock Lesnar (and, well, I guess Dana White, too). But Brock Lesnar won't be sick forever. He's going to get better. He's going to get healthy. And he's going to go back into that Texas Chainsaw Massacre-like existence, training in the middle of the woods in the sub-zero temperatures of Alexandria, Minnesota. Sick today, healthy tomorrow.

And that's bad news for Shane Carwin.

As the news of LESNAR'S HOSPITALIZATION broke, the cloud over his UFC future
got darker. With no comments whatsoever coming from the champ himself, only Dana
White could speak to the media regarding Brock's uncertain future, and the outlook was looker bleaker by the day.

White kept insisting he didn't know if the dominant bad ass from the University of Minnesota would ever fight again. Lesnar's silence only added to the mystery and the media hysteria surrounding the illness.

Lesnar reportedly underwent a minor surgery to correct his intestinal disorder while in Bismarck, North Dakota, and then went home to his home in Alexandria, Minnesota, which Paul Heyman likes to refer to as "a Minnesota version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre ... he lives in the middle of nowhere ... far far far away from people ... and that's a very good thing for people!"

Then Brock's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Coach RODRIGO "COMPRIDO" MEDEIROS SPOKE TO THE MEDIA ABOUT BROCK'S HEALTH, saying not only would the champ be back, but that Brock "is getting better and that is the most important thing ... He will be fine and be fighting again within 6 months I can just say that the heavyweights can stop laughing and get ready to start crying because the champion will be back soon."

Comprido's value to the Lesnar camp can't be understated. Paul Heyman said "Comprido is Brock's secret weapon ... he devised the half-crucifix sprawl for Brock to dominate Frank Mir at UFC 100. Brock really has assembled an awesome team, and surrounded himself with people who speak truth to power. Comprido is a major part of Brock's rise to the championship."

So now the world is getting ready for the UFC 106 weekend, with Shane Carwin anxiously awaiting word on if he'll ever step into the Octagon with the most controversial champion in Ultimate Fighting history. While Randy Couture moves into the Light Heavyweight division, and Kimbo Slice struggles to simply last through any round with any offense, one has to wonder just how much UFC really can afford to name an Interim Champion in Lesnar's absense.

There really is only Carwin, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Cain Velasquez at the moment to carry the Heavyweight Championship. UFC waited so long to rebuild the division, especially when Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture walked out on Zuffa in a dispute over the negotiations with Fedor Emelianenko.

From the Lesnar Camp, no word.

From UFC, uncertainty in the Heavyweight division.

As the hours tick away approaching UFC 106, one has to wonder just when we'll find out the future of the biggest star in the UFC, and the entire division that depends on his ability to step back into the Octagon.
